Yesterday, was a day to celebrate mothers. This year, I decided to write a poem for my mom, who has blessed my life more than she will ever know.
For those who didn't know, my mom was the one who encouraged me to start a blog. She thought that I had a story to share.
But, I also wanted others to be able to relate to this poem. And if you don't have a mom or one you are close with, I hope there is another lady, a mentor or teacher who fills that role.
Happy Mother's Day!

When I was little and afraid of the dark, my mom was there. She was the first to say it would be all right. The first one that held me so tight. And the one who rubbed my legs when they hurt at night. Who sang me songs and read me stories.
My mom was the one who took me to dance class. Who watched every step or dance I learned.
My mom was there when my body started to weaken. When dancing started to change. She was there when I was too scared to try something new. And in the times I felt blue.
As I’ve grown older, my mother’s always there for advice. Who still holds my hand when I’m scared. And is there when I’m in pain. She supports my decisions, even when they are not always right.
Mothers are special, that is true. Not one is alike. But, I thank God for the mom that He gave me. She means so much in my life. No matter the dream, she is right there to support me.
